I was born blind with congenital cataracts (which they thankfully removed) and am 41 and bipolar 1 now. My mind is not going to last much longer, on lots of anti psychotics and they're looking to up the dose. Also it's not comforting to know that depression gets worse with age.
This is so true, and yet our whole culture driven by modern psychology puts out this narrative of the atomized individual and if you don't happen to be one you are stigmatized.
This is how I feel as well. I don't know why society pathologizes accurate thinking just because it happens to be negative. I struggle with depression but if a thought is accurate I have *no power* to stop it.
If this started in the 80's I blame Ronald Regan and the movements that brought his ilk in power. There was a NYTimes article that said when Regan became president people's worth started to be more judged by external measures. Yes we have this whole complex of psychologists feeding us dreck like "you have innate worth" but when these ideas aren't backed up in day to day interactions they don't generally help people, at least not thinking people.
I had a LG G3 and then a V35 ThinQ and they were both solid phones with good cameras and I love the power button placement on the back. But their flagship phone sizes just kept creeping up and I wasn't ready to buy a phablet. Still sad to see them go though, on their low end models they had batter cameras then comparable Samsungs.
I help run a group of adults on the autistic spectrum and hearing Trump's rhetoric did a lot of damage to their mental health. Some might say Trump was more bark than bite but some people on the spectrum didn't have the ability to process this socially.
I LOVE 8 bit guy. I just wish he would do more Amiga stuff. My first computer was an Amiga 600HD and I loved the thing to death and even programmed games on it. Wish I still had it around but it broke down and we threw it away in a move.
I find that the employee/employer dynamic to be more and more adversarial as time goes on. This is especially true in the tech world where employers know they can offshore or H1-B. It doesn't really make sense all the way because treating people like people usually works in one's favor. But it's a skill and people with power don't naturally treat others kindly partially because the very way they got said power was by elbowing past people.
I always thought they needed to do screening spraying some air freshener and then asking people if they can smell it. Seems like this would catch at least some people as loss of sense of smell is a common symptom even when there are no others.
I watch a lot of Jordan Peterson videos and lately I have been getting videos from Better Bachelor which is basically MGTOW RedPill kind of stuff. It's really not healthy to watch the redpill/MGTOW/incel stuff but it's like jelly donuts in the break room, they know my weaknesses and they are exploiting them.
