Digitally speaking I would say that your data is an extension of your person. You should decide IF you want to share data and what your compensation should be in a competitive market.
I use Brave browser because of the ideal it represents. I have my qualms but do make money on it and can not opt in to ads in the first place. Takes care of most trackers.
There is also the ownership issue. My computer is my domain. If you are not invited, then don't pull a breaking and entering to steal from me. Such brokers are a huge security risk. There is no such thing as completely anonymous data. Not to mention the risk of brokers being hijacked or breeched.
I support this bill and feel liberty requires more in reality.
Just because it is digital and our reps are sorely under qualified in most cases to apply simple laws that we apply IRL.

The sell a tightly bound Ecosphere. They need one because it is trendy now and prolly going to enhance productivety. They are kinda the fashion accesory of computing.
Even then without modern functions and ability to compete in an always changing market. Would make them irrelevant and worse undesireable.
They could also just use chat-gpt up to them. But then folks and their data and possibly money leave the ecosphere.

Also shields Crime Agencies (aptly refered to) from perpetuating crime and/or committing crimes.
Various tech can be repurposed as a tool for criminals. Hammers dont have to be used for nails etc.

Why is the "think of the children" angle assualting my right to free association, privacy, security against id theft, fraud etc?

I Have yet to see meta data on the dark web be a major factor in busting such criminals. Seems more important for govs to wage war against their populace if not the info selling corps.
