Back in the day I had a Lazer128 (and Apple ][e clone) with a small monochrome monitor that had no power switch of any sort.

When I was done writing stupid little basic programs and decided to go to bed, I would have to reach down and unplug the monitor or else it would glow a pale grey all night.

At least three or four times I reached down, and my fingers slipped to far, toucing both prongs before they left the wall, and my little eight year old hand would suddenly and violently go very numb for several minutes.

But, on the other hand, most of my friends didn't have computers, and I kicked ass at playing snake, so who was I to complain about a little electricity
