Last time I powered on my Xbox I used my kids controller.. to continue I needed to update the firmware of the controller.. to do that I needed to login into their account, to do that I needed to 2FA from their iPad.. to do that I had to run around the house to find the iPad, then I had to charge their iPad.. once that was done I needed to update the console for security updates.. once that was done I had to install the game updates.. At some point I had to login to my phone and find the family options and modify some settings as it thought I was a child⦠etc etc. Iâ(TM)m sure there was some prompts about renewing my monthly subscription as well, now itâ(TM)s a business decision.. It was time for dinner and I didnâ(TM)t get to play the game, next time I just turned on the GameCube.

Gaming is suppose to be fun, something to do after work so I don't have to think about the business world. The other day my 9 year old needed her 16 character xbox password to sign into her controller. 2fa.. micro transactions.. 20 page legal documents..keeping track of what subscriptions I need to cancel and being bombarded with ads.. and logins for every company. Congratulations world we can now use our fun machine the same way we use our work ones. I just picked up a switch the other day.. physical games hold their value for years on Nintendo.. and I can play without an internet connection and even updates.

They aren't being used as devices to enhance their knowledge, they are being used for TikTok and following each other.. a whole fear of missing out culture.. if no one is posting all day.. you don't have to worry. The services on these devices are made to be as distractive as possible.. If we were to assume that the devices would only be used to enhance education, I'm not sure if I'm convinced they even need to be used. The #1 thing I want my kids to learn is how to socialise, work with or co-exist with others. If everything they need to know is a google search away, you never need to talk to anyone. Hell I don't even have to bother remembering anything or understanding how the world works. Google Maps is a great tool, but can our kids make it home from the mall if their phone battery dies? Why bother how my body works, if my stomach hurts I can just look that up online as well. They know Elon is a right wing anarchist, and they can lookup what right wing and anarchist means at a later date.

Iâ(TM)m having a hard time remembering.. but I think virtual desktops.. and the windows key plus an arrow to auto fit windows.. I think windows 11 may have expanded this a bit. I personally donâ(TM)t rely heavily on the start menu.. I use win10 for work 11 for home and if I sat down at a new machine Iâ(TM)d have a hard time telling which one is which.

This is happening with so many products.. not just VMware. Forcing customers to new versions they donâ(TM)t really need, but make it easier for the vendor to milk you. The version updates generally break some service or stops supporting some hardware that has been working fine for years under the guise of we can only best support you on the latest version.. The idea of these tech companies getting bigger and bigger is alarming⦠fewer and fewer alternatives. Customers should be excited about a new version.. but we rarely are.

TPM provides better security! I doubt most people can explain how, I sure canâ(TM)t. All I can find from Microsoft is it can help prevent firmware and random ware attacks, but Iâ(TM)m not sure how. Are keys/credentials physically stored here so they canâ(TM)t be pulled out of ram? I find it surprising people are disabling this on novice computer user machines though, it sort of feels like they are users who should have TPM. I think a lot of the backlash would go away if users better understood why TPM is good for them, if it really isâ¦
