You have to create a directory junction. I have steam and some games installed on an SSD, the rest are on a 10K raptor.

From the command line type mklink (win vista and 7).

If you want some game on your C and some on a different drive you will have to create a directory junction for each game (you will need to install it on C first, move it to do and then create the directory junction) otherwise you can just move your entire steamapps folder to d and create a directory junction on C that links to your steamapps folder on D.

Hopefully steam updates it so you can split your game install path without having to fuck around with this shit.

The only way I know of to actually lose your entire account it if you cause a charge back on a credit card payment. They will suspend your account until the charge back is resolved in their favour, which means if you can't get htis done it will be suspended for ever. You wont lose your account for cheating on VAC servers, you are just banned from playing that game on any VAC server forever.

Wow, such terrible advice from slashdot. The easiest way to move Windows OS from one machine to another when their are hardware differences is to get your self a copy of shadowprotect and use the HIR (hardware independent restore) option. Google it. Virtualising is not the best way to by a long shot to do what you are trying to do.

Luckily it was duel boot with WinXP 64bit.

Since then it is now running 7 and I stick to l00nix for my VPSes.

Every time I have setup some l00nix distro as a desktop there is always hours of messing around to get it working properly. Once apon a time I did enjoy the messing around, but these days I just want something that works (probably because I do another messing around during my day job).

By far Win7 has been the easiest and cleanest OS to get up and going out of every OS I have used.

NSA also regularly created Windows (desktop and server) and even mac, and some routers security guidelines and since Vista they just recommend using microsofts SSLF templates (which the NSA have "vetted") provided with the gpo accelerator tool.

SELinux was created because there was no easy way to implement all the l00nix recommendation in a base l00nix system. Windows already had GPO so they didn't need to build something.

Err that is a dell. Any self respecting nerd doesn't buy shit from dell or HP. I buy all my pc gear from MSY and IT estate which are basically high volume wholesalers that sell to the public. There is no option to do this with apple. You buy retail or you don't buy at all. Now if you are talking about work stuff, yes we do use dell and HP, but as they are volume orders they are a lot cheaper than the shit you just posted above.

I already love how they can remotely install sh*t on my box. No, thanks.

In most cases you are using a company phone if you have it linked to your company exchange server (not all of course), and unless you live in fantasy land I don't think it is outrageous to allow the IT admins to remotely wipe your company phone if you lose it or it gets stolen. And for the record you can even wipe it yourself from OWA.
