It seems like the good folk in the crowd agreed with you. While Steve was laughing at how slow the old iPhone was, people in the crowd were CHEERING. Some serious Coolaid in that crowd.
I think for effect he should have got out an iPhone 1.0 and smashed it, pointed at a guy in the crowd who had one, and laughed.
