the elephant in the room is obviously the "right" of first resale, aka - do we own the digital games we purchase or not? if someone were to actually bring this up it would shatter the conversation and send the bigger corps running... but if we want to claim to have done anything to actually open up marketplaces for customers, rather than just sellers and resellers, then a digital good can become something with a lasting value not doomed to platform decay (and its direct link to planned obsolescence) of the first goods humans have ever produced with the capability to last hundreds of thousands of years... because if we can't own these things unless we pirate them and emulate them, only the pirates will own anything in the end.
