Comment Bundle the hardware (Score 1) 633

Since you mention photos and music, why don't you just bundle the necessary hardware : you could put all the music and audio in an mp3 player, the photos one one of those digital frames, or just get an archos or something that does it all. I don't think it should be too difficult to find a correct power source in 16 years. Though obviously, if you want to be able to retrieve the data from the hardware, as opposed to just playing / watching / ... it, that would be more difficult.

And there's the fact that you can't choose "linux" or a variation of the word as a screen name on Xbox live because it gets recognized as a swear word. There's an old slashdot story about it :

But I must say, I don't understand why people are always so interested in stories of this kind. I once read somewhere that there was this increeeedible new easter egg in the OSX Terminal where you typed "bill gates" and it answered "kill gates". Turns out the shell used in OSX simply corrects spelling and suggests commands closest to user input. Quite frankly, I find these things get boring rather quickly.

Alan Cox Quits As Linux TTY Maintainer — "I've Had Enough" 909

The Slashdolt writes "After a stern criticism from Linus, the long-time kernel hacker Alan Cox has decided to walk away as the maintainer of the TTY subsystem of the Linux Kernel, stating '...I've had enough. If you think that problem is easy to fix you fix it. Have fun. I've zapped the tty merge queue so anyone with patches for the tty layer can send them to the new maintainer.'" A response to a subsequent post on the list makes it quite clear that he is serious.
