Journal i*rod's Journal: The Dawn of Debian; A Grimpill's Progress
Dear Me;
I have debian-31r3-i386-netinst.iso (Debian 3.1 r3 Official Distro) sitting on my Windows XP-Home Desktop, and a new 160 GB Maxtor HD in the bay with nothing on it. I also have the distro copied to a CD... which I assume is the source from which I am supposed to install it on the new HD.
My PC is an eMachines T2893 OEM 80+160 GB HDs, 512 MB DDR SDRAM @ 2.66 GHz, with an Optical Disk Drive that can handle DVD-R but not DVD-RW. I am waiting delivery of a Sony DRU810A / 16x8x16x DVD+RW to the purpose of writing a complete Docs & Sets Backup of my Windows on DVD before I proceed to install the Linux ... just in case I cause a snafu in the process.
I want to get a comprehensive Linux 'Manual'; a sort of 'Bible', that I can study so I can get a good grounding in Linux fundamentals. I need help with this because I have no way to evaluate all the literature available.
