The worst power generation-related accident in history was the cascade failure of a series of hydroelectric dams. It killed nearly a quarter million people, damaged or destroyed 6 million buildings, and forced the evacuation of 11 million residents. Basically, it was as bad as or worse than the tsunami in Japan.

In stark contrast to nuclear accidents, it is almost never brought up as an argument against hydroelectric power.

A "once-in-2000-years" year flood is going to cause casualties whether there are hydro turbines there or not. At least that area isn't uninhabitable for centuries.

That's according to Swartz's own Think Progress. JSTOR's statement is more ambiguous.

Somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 birds rained down on the small town of Beeb, Arkansas, with no visible trauma. Officials are making wild guesses as to what happened — lightning strike, high-altitude hail, or perhaps trauma from the sound of New Year's fireworks killed them."

Profiteering hypocrites? Not that there's anything wrong with getting paid for your work, but, seriously, you're going to take a show that says "Please copy and share me" RIGHT ON IT, and discourage people from copying and sharing it?

I disagree. The message supported home taping (fair use). There's no way you can interpret that to apply to file-sharing as well. Heck, there was no such thing back when those shows were created.

Nonetheless, there are plenty of episodes which will probably never make it to DVD. I doubt Joel would fault you for downloading them for personal viewing.

Now that Shout Factory bought the rights from Rhino, maybe the sets will be cheaper anyway.
