You are talking symptoms and making assumptions but the real reason is Globalization and automation. When the rest of the world pays $2 per day for labor that has pushed the cost of unskilled jobs much lower in the USA. Thats why all the charts show that min and starting wages have not kept up. Automation has absolutely taken a ridiculous amount of labor jobs away or lowered their pay

Or maybe the tech industry has reached maturity, saturation and diminishing returns. Most things are pretty much designed with just minor tweaks. We need to get everyone back in the trades to build cheap housing so you dont need an engineer job just to buy a tiny home. We also need to raise children with grit so they they can do the jobs that we currently have to get from other countries. Masonry, welding, steel workers, pipe fitters, electricians, plumbers, airline and commercial mechanics

Why do we need to get off oil?? Do you want all your energy from a single source (one utility connection at homes) with no redundancy? Gasoline stores energy much better than a chemical battery. I get over 700 miles on gasoline in a Accord Hybrid And no reliance on the grid
