Modestly, I'll recommend the Second Edition of our book: "IT Manager's Handbook: Getting Your New Job Done". On Amazon, B&N, etc. (Morgan Kaufman Publishers, ISBN-13: 978-0123704887) It covers topics you'll face every day such as open source, wireless, handhelds, outsourcing, offshoring, etc. It has lots of stories from people who are out there in the corporate front lines right now.
