We can argue till we are blue in the face about the cause of global warming. The fact remains that if you act and nothing happens with global warming, you louse and end up in a depression, that’s the worst that can happen. The worst that can happen if you don’t act and we do end up with global warming is a complete catastrophe. In the worst case scenario, possibly even complete extinction of life. The truth probably lies in between these extremes. However reasonable people can admit that their opinion on the matter might possibly be wrong. Given that fact and the worst outcome is if we don’t act and we do have global warming, reasonable people must conclude that we must act. The solution does not lie in solar and wind alone, other technologies are needed. Those technologies include an energy production system that can power during loads and periods of time when solar and wind do not provide energy. A major component of that problem can be resolved by removing coal fire plants from the mix by converting them to LFTR Nuclear Reactors. They are super-ultra-safe and provide a million times the power density of coal. All we really need to do is retire old Nuclear reactors and replace them with LFTR Nuclear Reactors and start consuming the nuclear waste that is built up in these dump sites. LFTR Nuclear reactors can't go boom and are almost impossible to make bombs or dirty bombs out of. They represent a good solid solution to the global warming problem and provide a much more consistent power source than standard nuclear, wind, and solar. They produce only tiny bits of waste that only lasts for 300 years instead of 10,000 years and consume depleted uranium. The amount of waste is only about the size of a coke can per 1MW of power. The power density of Thorium is a million times that of coal and we produce far more radioactivity and dump it into the atmosphere using coal that wouldn't be dumped by LFTR reactors. They are cheap to run, cheap to maintain and ONE mountain pass in Utah contains enough Thorium to power the whole US economy for 1000 years! Lets just be a bunch of stupid apathetic fools and just wait and see what happens with global warming. When our children are 30-40 years old it will be them who can deal with things like tornado's in winter, massive dying of wild life, 2 or 3 120 degree summer days in areas where the worst days now never exceed 105. So what lets all sit around and wait for it to be someone elses problem like people do about everything else after all its easier and less expensive to do that rather than spend the tens to hundreds of trillions of dollars necessary to correct the problem.
