Your Identity Is Worth Less Than $15 178

I Don't Believe in Imaginary Property writes "One of the more interesting tidbits in Symantec's Global Internet Threat Report (PDF, 105 pages) is the price sheet, which suggests that someone's 'full identity' is worth in the range of $1-$15. Your email password goes for $4-$30 and your bank account might fetch $10-$1000. With those prices, I wonder how often they pay more for the bank account than is actually in it? There's also an executive summary (PDF, 36 pages)."

Submission + - Google StreetView Is In Your Driveway (thesmokinggun.com)

hermit_crab writes: Janet and George McKee, neighbors of the Borings (who were featured in a previous submission) own a house that is featured in a much more intrusive set of Google StreetView images. 'The Google car continued past the steps leading to the McKees's front door and came to a stop outside the house's three-car garage (and next to the family's trampoline and portable basketball rim). Taking photos all the time, the Google vehicle was squarely on private property, a fact that presumably should have been apparent when the gravel path became paved.' The funny and surprising fact of this story is that unlike the Borings, the McKees have not announced intentions to sue Google, nor have they requested to have the images removed.
