I may be wrong, but I believe these features don't need any extra work on the website side.

This is code to "read" out an RIA, making it more accessible. So, whether or not MSIE adopts it, it's still very useful.

Also, at the end of the article it states that IBM is in talks with Apple and MS to get this code into their respective browsers.
