I absolutely agree with you 100%.

As a newcomer to Linux, I installed VMWare + Ubuntu BB image. I had to troubleshoot a particular problem on a website of mine that only occurred on Linux browsers.

So to try an update Firefox from 1.x to 2.0.0.4, I needed a script, run on a command line, to perform the upgrade. Such a simple task.

CONSIDER THIS: The 'time to live' for me, on Linux, is from a fresh install to requiring a command line action. For Windows, this may be months. For Linux? About 2 hours. How sad.
