I am using computers for a lot of things, like developing, music and graphics.
Unfortunately there is no operating system that suits em all
For developing linux is just unbeatable, but if it comes to commercial graphics and music applications, there are just none. While ardour is nice and a big step towards linux in the music industry. As long as it does not run the countless VST plugins out there, including there often proprietary copy protections with usb dongles and stuff, it wont get far. In the graphics area i have to use Softimage, which is availble for Linux and Windows. Well try installing it. It does not run on linux, it runs on redhat. I have tried about two dozend of distributions, it only works on redhat, and i wont get redhat for my desktop system.
Well and for mac, i do have one, because i was working as a iphone developer for a while and you are forced to get one, but i don't like it. You cant configure anything, to your likings and you actually have to pay money for security updates. The Software range is better, but still not as good as on Windows (Softimage is not available for example)
