Amazon's is actively disabling their "Echo Link" device remotely so it cannot be used for streaming audio any longer. It was something like $400 when it was released if you got the Amp version. This started happening over the last year and a half or so - you can reset it, get it working for a while, but after 24 hours their update hits the device and turns streaming support off.

This was the ONLY way you could stream music of your choice to an Alexa music group (e.g. Soundcloud, or a record player, etc).

We had a 15+ page thread on their forums that they just quietly locked it (https://www.amazonforum.com/s/question/0D56Q0000DdBGCuSQO/echo-link-not-playing-through-speaker-group). They have support reps still pretending it is supported and then tell people to contact customer service for a refundd.

Absolutely disgraceful on their part - just announce it's deprecation instead of this garbage.

is there any way to do this in linux without a hassle? I'd like to be able to set outgoing traffic limits for any IP's that are setup to go through my gateway box.. i messed around with CBQ and got it to work, but it will only shape traffic for ips on a local eth device.. id like to just shape traffic for each ip on the subnet that uses the gateway, to mabye 10-15KB/s outgoing, unlimited incoming...
