Apple has not made Java capable of running on the popular device. But Sun's Terrence Barr, technical evangelist for the Java mobile and embedded community, believes Apple's plans to release an SDK for iPhone in early-2008 may result in the open-source phoneME version of Java ME winding up on iPhone.

Its not exactly the same thing, the MIT clock has a much higher cool factor. The helicopter flies away, but the alarm clock itself stays on the table. You just have to get propeller on top of the alarm clock again to make it shut up...
Google Launches Summer of Code 2007 74
An anonymous reader writes "Looks like Google has announced that it will be doing Summer of Code again this year. The program looks pretty much the same this year but they have built time into the program schedule for students to get up to speed before they start coding. Nice job, Google."
