I think the real problem is not in these types of ads that try to get you to buy something. It is ads like political ads where the advertiser tries to target things such as political affiliation, race, economic status, geographical location etc. These allow for targeted delivery of fake news for example. You end up with something like what Facebook has become.

Thanks for the reply. I know that incognito does not stop ads. As I said, it stops them from creating a 'profile' on you. I can see why ad networks would not like that. But for a website which displays ads then not displaying an ad (if they block the user) would not make sense. ie. Even without a profile an ad can be displayed. I suppose that the revenue would be lower (advertisers pay more for a targeted audience), but I don't see this being a major factor (what percentage of users use incognito? Ad-blockers seem like a much bigger problem. I guess what I am getting at is, what type of website would block users because they are in incognito mode? Even for ad-networks such as facebook it would not make sense.
