Cell Phones Don't Increase Chances of Brain Cancer 320

mclearn sends in news of "a very large, 30-year study of just about everyone in Scandinavia" that shows no link between mobile phone use and brain tumors. "Even though mobile telephone use soared in the 1990s and afterward, brain tumors did not become any more common during this time, the researchers reported in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Some activist groups and a few researchers have raised concerns about a link between mobile phones and several kinds of cancer, including brain tumors, although years of research have failed to establish a connection. ... 'From 1974 to 2003, the incidence rate of glioma (a type of brain tumor) increased by 0.5 per cent per year among men and by 0.2 per cent per year among women,' they wrote. Overall, there was no significant pattern."

I believe it is essential to create and sustain freespaces which are driven by interest and passion - not profit.

All places I know that focus on creation of ideas and life, instead of money, thrive in a way that is a bit unexplainable, but profound. And encouraging!

Just like open source software, it lowers the barrier to participation to the absolute minimum. Instead of ensuring a ever growing surplus of money, there is total focus on creation/creativity.

Just like open source has spread out to the public, so will the ideas of freespaces - without interests beyond the interests of the users.

More of these please!

Now Tesla has released new video of its upcoming new electric car, called the Model S, which Tesla Motors claims is the world's first mass produced fully-electric vehicle. Unlike the Lotus-Elise based Roadster, the Model S is a traditional sedan of the type millions of commuters might actually drive. Tesla claims it will fit seven people, and has mounted a rather large 17in LCD in the dash. Key to Telsa's future will be the evolution of lithium-ion battery technology. Tesla Motors claiming the new Model S can travel up to 300 miles on a single charge, but the battery will still take 45 minutes to quick-recharge.

My simple guess is any request with a destination of 53 is logged and then resolved at some later time.

I have a hard time believing that this would be the case; at least here in Denmark, everything about the different filtering we've experienced points at zero-knowledge politicians telling some IT staff what to do - and do it now!

No real blocking is taking place, just sort of placebo blocking.. by the way, on the Danish version of the 'page with the red STOP sign' it says that ones visit to that page has not been logged.

Our government, just like the rest of the 'civilized' world are acting crazy with paranoia. It seems like they (the politicians) are having a race as to whom can implement most privacy/human-rights defying laws fastest!
