For a start, confucianism is definitely against porn, and unlike Christian which involves a god which get easily challenged in modern world, confucianism is still influential in china. Also, there is worry that allowing porn in a society unbalancedly developed will inevitably lead to sexual exploitation in poorer parts of the country.

Actually one can. I am a native Chinese and I have tried to do so for half a year since I don't want to install this spying bullshit which put rubbish everywhere in my phones' SD card instead of following android standard. There are tons of tweak on GitHub which enables people to log in WeChat on computer that has logined before without the idiot mandatory scan-to-login design (which is exactly what this design is trying to prevent.... ironically), so I am checking WeChat on computer as if it is a work email. Then I am using Alipay to pay which, is somehow less evil considering versions downloaded from Google Play since it can work without any system permission and supports modern android API and design instruction at least better than WeChat. I do hope someone can stop WeChat. The popularity and existence of such software is a direct insult to Chinese IQ. One can never find a worse designed and function lacked IM in 2020.
