I have a Ph.D. in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan where I developed novel datastructures that exploit implicit problem structure to dramatically improve the performance of various scientific computing applications. I have applied these techniques outside of academia to asymptotically speed up simulation of particular quantum mechanical systems at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Labs. My main interests involve developing high-performance algorithms and heuristics for scientific computing that exploit particular classes of inputs to produce large speed-ups for expected cases in addition to optimizing for the worst case which can often be greatly improved upon in practice.
