The English cobbled together a language from Celtic, Norse, and North German languages - then mixed in Latin and French. I think the idea of "standard English" hath had its day, forsooth.

50-something IT guy. I share a birthday with Charles Babbage - a strangely consoling thought.
In a previous life I was a secondary teacher for 20+ years, with a strong and growing IT sideline. Then I left and entered the IT world full time, starting in helpdesk/support, moving on to do network maintenance and desktop support at a polytechnic and then a power utility.
Now I'm the online learning administrator at Canterbury University, running a WebCT Campus Edition v4.1 system and doing e-learning evangelism and staff training. I'm a keen but intermittent cyclist, sailor, and skier.
