Maybe with the two different chipsets they're planning on allowing users to communicate with others nearby using 802.11 - forming local multi-hop ad hoc networks - and also allow users to connect directly to the web using some cell technology (e.g. GPRS/EDGE/CDMA2000).
Just a thought.
