Niche? At my workplace about 1/3 have BEVs, albeight it's an upper-income place. In Norway a bit more than 70% of all cars sold are BEVs. The people I know with BEVs don't bother with speed-chargers and such, they just plug in using the motor warmer contact in the garage (regular electricity plug). 4/5 hours and the car is good to go all day next day.
