People who are suggesting Hard Drives clearly haven't tried to load information from an old IDE drive. The interface for internal media changes quicker than external - you can still buy 3.5" drives, and only for about $10. A technology usable since 1987 - 20 year storage without media transfer is amazing! Today you'd use DVDs: DVD's provide 4.7GB at a time, which for photos is fine. One just has to be careful of WHICH DVD's - the discount brand will degrade in about 10 years. Buy some "Medical grade DVDs" (online), and use them. Its not a cheap as buying a 1TB HD, but its portable, and more reliable.

Interface design and reusability of the code are of primary importance to me. For my purpose, Cocoa applications relying on Core Data seem to be the best way to get the job done quickly. While I have some programming experience, I have few connections to the industrial world. So my question to Slashdot readers is: how do I find someone (individual or business) to write high-quality programs? Are there reputable contractors experienced in Cocoa? What sort of rates should I expect, to use as a starting point in negotiations? Would a requirement that programs are released as open source make it more or less difficult to find someone to do the job?"
