Lyx has more output formats. One thingI ahve found useful is that I can produce HTML and PDF versions of the same document easilly.

Lyx also has better import - it can import text as paragraphs or lines for example.

Lyx is faster and works better. One of the first things I noticed with an imported text file in TeXmacs is that getting rid of a line break by backspacing from the start of the next line did not work on the first attempt, but did work eventually. Generally Lyx is the more intuitive despite being less WYSISYG.

Lys is noticably faster and feels more responsive on my 1.2GHz Athlon.

TeXmacs looks prittier. It has better control over appearance from the GUI.

I might find a use for TeXmacs for short documents or where appearence really matters, for long documents LyX wins hands down.

If Lyx has a little more ways of tweaking final appearnce without suing LaTeX, I would have no use for TeXmacs.
