My wife uses DAX Copilot already, and this seems like it's simply a rebranding. It does fill in notes for doctors based on recorded patient interactions, but the doctor must review (and edit, when needed/wanted) them and is ultimately responsible for everything that goes into the system. Obviously, DAX is also not placing any orders, prescriptions, etc. The responsibility and liability still lies 100% with the doctor. This is just a tool to save clicks and manual entry/dictation (and, according to my wife, it is very helpful).

I saw that VW is also playing with this solar paint. I hope it works out and becomes economically viable. It would also help people who don't have easy access to charging at home. A lot of those people also live in large cities where their cars may be in shaded garages or parking spaces, but I'm sure that passive charging would help a lot of folks. I have charging at home and park inside a garage, so this wouldn't help me most of the time (and probably wouldn't be worth paying extra for, especially since I have solar panels on my roof that meet my demand even with an EV), but even then it would be useful when I'm road-tripping. Many hotels that advertise having EV charging equipment might have one charging spot for every few hundred rooms, which essentially makes that claim untrue. Road tripping is still one of the more challenging areas for EVs to compete against ICE/hybrid vehicles.

I keep wondering when Microsoft will realize the error of their ways with Windows 11, both from a "planned obsolescence" point of view and from a customer "telemetry" (spying) point of view. So far, it seems they are dead set on proving that they have the market power to offer worse products over time and still remain dominant. It's a sad state of affairs.

There are checks for over 18/21, 25, 65, identity info (TSA), and driving privileges (police), so they donâ(TM)t physically need to take your phone from your hand. I think the reason why they're so desperate to get everyone switched to 11 is simply that they have implemented more advertising and user tracking in 11 that brings them greater recurring revenue. Windows 11 is the least user-respecting MS operating system to date, but probably also the OS that drives the most recurring revenue for Microsoft.

I am also a former long-time Windows user. I replaced Windows in 2021 after it became clear that Microsoft no longer respected my agency or privacy. It's funny and sad that years ago, software that changed settings and installed software without permission, displayed ads, and tracked user behavior was called adware/malvertising! Today, that's just what Windows is.

I switched mostly to Mac for now, but I'm using Zorin on one PC. I can't use Linux for everyday stuff because it simply doesn't support my photography-related software. I don't like Apple, but Microsoft have become so awful that Apple are now the lesser of those two evils.

I saw a Youtube video from Snazzy Labs that discussed these points and speculated that it's due to yields from the TSMC 3NB process, which is presumably what these chips are produced on (like the A17 Pro in the new iPhone Pro 15). I'm guessing that due to poor yields, Apple finds themselves having to disable cores in quite a few of the M3-based chips, which is why we see decreased memory bandwidth and core count along with so many different variations of the chip vs. in prior generations. Does that have a performance impact? I'm sure it does. Does it make the chips perform worse than the M1 and/or M2 in any real-world benchmarks? I guess we'll find out soon.

I wonder if we'll see an M3 Macbook Air at some point. Sticking the M3 only in the iMac and 14" Pro will ensure there isn't a huge demand for it and it will also keep margins higher. Maybe the MBA will skip the M3 generation altogether, or maybe if yields of Pro and Max binned chips are bad enough and demand for the iMac and 14" MBP w/ vanilla M3 are low enough, Apple will throw an M3 refresh MBA out there.

The only thing about the M3 that currently looks appealing is AV1 decode support. My guess is that the M4 generation, still on "3nm" but maybe a better yielding version, will probably "fix" a lot of these oddities with core count and memory bandwidth on the M3 generation.
