Take this from a practicing biochemist: Really this is nothing that we could not do, even 10 years ago, using recombinant DNA technology. The fact that they chemically synthesized the sequence is technically challenging, but nothing really new, either. [micro]injection into cells is a non trivial technique, and quite demanding, but again has been done for years. NOTHING SCARY HERE, MOVE ALONG!
