You must be REALLY naive then. People stopped paying attention to the road as soon as they had anyone else around, or lipstick or razors or a crossword or a billboard... arguably the biggest lesson cars can teach us is that people are really distractible when doing incredibly dangerous activities that have become mundane.
In some ways it was bad.

I do think astroturfing is a real and pervasive problem, but it's awfully convenient to assume without evidence that any given post *is* astroturfing. You can assume all you want, but your "teaching example" is a just-so-story at its core.

I suspect there's a line of code in the "assignModPoints" function that says something like
if(freaks.contains("pudge")) return 0;
I haven't gotten mod points in a long time either, though I suspect in my case that I had turned off the "willing to moderate" option when it existed in the user options, and unrelated to that pudge foed me at a later time.

The weight difference is interesting. I wonder why they don't include average weight differences between lenses on the site when you're pricing it out? I suppose it is because the difference is so small that it would sell less upgrades. For my son's glasses I worry less about the frames and more about scratch resistance and lens replaceability (browser spellcheck claims that's not a word. Of course it also thinks spellcheck is not a word either, but I believe it's in common enough usage to be a full non-hyphened compound

That seems overly reductionist. I'd guess that onsite backups adequately cover over 90% of data loss situations.
