The technology field in general is more tolerant of age, race, nationality, personal hygiene and a lot of other attributes than other fields are. The thing you have to have is currency-- not in the dollars and cents sense but in the state-of-practice sense. Current technologies, current development methodologies, current tools, current practices-- that's what'll keep you employed. So getting your CS degree is a good first step, but remember that a technology career requires constant re-education and personal evolution. The degree is the beginning...
Also recognize that a degree with no experience is probably worth less than experience without a degree-- you should have both. A CS degree won't magically make you employable.
