Microsoft Partners With Zend 223

jesse.castro writes to point out news of Microsoft striking a multi-year partnership with PHP provider Zend to improve PHP's performance on Windows-based Web servers. From the article: "Rather than marking a sudden change of course, Microsoft is openly engaging in a dialogue with Zend, a key open source promoter, and millions of PHP developers, analysts said."

On the issue of true device sharing:

There is a possibility of using MOSIX together with GFS (which gives true device sharing) so that you don't need to use something like NFS. This way, a migrated process will be able to access the device directly, without needing to go through its home node.

AFAIK, this option is still not production-level, though.
