Comment Angry at gnome3 then love it (Score 1) 315

I was really angry at Gnome3, I'm an Archlinux user so I was between the first people to use it when it become stable, for a couple of weeks I switched to XFCE and guess what? I'm back at Gnome3. In this second try however I did three small changes to gnome3 that improved my user experience: 1. Installed tint2 taskbar, 2. Activated the "minimize" option on windows using gnome-tweak-tool 3. And finally installed Alternative-status-menu-extension to get back my power off option. Now I'm a very happy gnome3 user, I love it

So what if he has Asperger? Are the lawyers implying that he is less responsible for his acts due his condition? Clearly they do not know anything about Asperger's syndrome and in fact are offending people with this kind of syndrome, this simply infuriates me, people with Asperger around the world are trying HARD to demonstrate that they can behave as normal as anybody else and this lawyers come with this just to save this guy's Ass, thats plain irresponsible!

So, you mean like when you install Service Pack 1 on Windows seven and the system completely crashes and you have to reinstall the whole thing? that has happened at least 4 times in this past two weeks. My Archlinux on the other hand, which is rolling release and is supposed to be unstable because of its very nature is rock solid and most of the time simply firing a "pacman -Syu" gets the system updated and working even better with cutting edge features I know Windows has his strong points, but believe me, once you start using Linux as the only OS and REALLY taking it serious you realize that windows is not THAT great is people usually think

No, they don't, you just hate the fact that you don't like it, you would have love it if it didn't had an Spanish word as many people do The point is that English language doesn't have a word that describes the sense of the project as "Libre" does, just consider this: I have heard people who speak English AND Spanish pronounce Linux as "Line-uks" and not as "Leenooks" which is the right one, it is Ok to expect people who does not speak a language to mispronounce it and eventually learn how to do it.

This article really surprised me, believe or not I have searched over the years proof that there was people looking for this same thing and now it's clear that a common interest exists for such a solution. The thing is that technically and socially it isn't that hard to achieve, In fact, it exists and always has existed but the "subnets" are not connected, it's way to simple to implement and relatively cheap. I think that maybe we're getting way too far in this copyright and patents thing, to put it on other terms I'm seeing the catholic church all over again forbidding people to do that or this and it's got to the point that it has started to block human knowledge and grow. The problem is that in order to solve this problem a LOT of people must change their minds first and what's more troublesome: we have to start doing things because it benefits us all and not because it benefits our income. The bottom line is that money sucks big time

About the confusing distros that measn you preffer having Linux starter edition which doesn't allow you to change the wallpaper? I agree that it lacks software, but it is not OS fault, I remeber ten years ago when people were asking big companies to create Linux drivers for their devices, right now IT IS HAPPENING, more hardware support is comming, but you must realize that in order to change the current market model it is necesary to change the way we think, easy enough, ask someone who has never tried Linux if he wold like to have it completly FREE, you'll notice that it is difficult for that person to grasp the concept and he thinks that it is not possible to be free and that he may be getting ripped off some how. About the command line interface, well, that tells me A LOT of your experience with windows: Once I had a problem with a customer on windows 7, icons on his desktop simply would not refresh (creating or deleting icons), The solution? Edit a cryptic, hidden, obscure registry key that I would have never find if Google didn't exist (Bing didn't find the right anser). So, stop this crap that Terminal commands are difficult when playing with the windows registry is like doing a brain surgery with a hammer and completly bllinded.
