If you donâ(TM)t use it, download Visual Studio Code and install Roo Code plugin. I think that may change your mind about vibe coding. Access to your codebase, and less fettered access to an LLM via API is a game changer. Disadvantage: it isnâ(TM)t free, but itâ(TM)s damn close. An entire feature in my python project materialized in minutes, with code for automated tests and even updates to markdown documentation that I didnâ(TM)t specifically ask for. Itâ(TM)s not foolproof by any means. It still needs review, but itâ(TM)s so much faster than me puzzling through the design myself. And all that for under $1.00.

Rock Band 3 Officially Announced For Holiday 2010 76

An anonymous reader writes "Philippe Dauman, Viacom CEO and President, announced today that Harmonix is currently working on the next Rock Band game, Rock Band 3, due for release Holiday 2010. 'The company is pursuing the game in spite of an industry-weakening decline in the once-booming genre of peripheral-equipped music games. Although the franchise has generated over $1 billion to date, the category in general saw sales contract by as much as half throughout 2009. MTV Games parent Viacom also saw Rock Band declines drag on its balance sheet in its last fiscal quarter, and expressed a need to refocus away from pricey peripherals in favor of software. It also said that due to royalties it would need to be more "selective" about track listings, and that it needs more support from the music industry in that department.'"

Space Photos Taken From Shed Stun Astronomers 149

krou writes "Amateur astronomer Peter Shah has stunned astronomers around the world with amazing photos of the universe taken from his garden shed. Shah spent £20,000 on the equipment, hooking up a telescope in his shed to his home computer, and the results are being compared to images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. 'Most men like to putter about in their garden shed,' said Shah, 'but mine is a bit more high tech than most. I have fitted it with a sliding roof so I can sit in comfort and look at the heavens. I have a very modest set up, but it just goes to show that a window to the universe is there for all of us – even with the smallest budgets. I had to be patient and take the images over a period of several months because the skies in Britain are often clouded over and you need clear conditions.' His images include the Monkey's head nebula, M33 Pinwheel Galaxy, Andromeda Galaxy and the Flaming Star Nebula, and are being put together for a book."

Comment Alliance@IBM needs salt (Score 1) 185

As an employee of IBM, I'd take the comments from Alliance@IBM with a grain of salt. Alliance@IBM is a group of employees whose agenda it has been to start an IT workers' union. The people Mr. Conrad is likely to be talking to are therefore probably pre-disposed to being very anti-upper management. Mr. Moffat's M.O. is as an axe man, and a pool of employees who's reactionary response is to oppose any kind of reduction in workforce, no matter how necessary from a business standpoint, is hardly likely to have an unbiased opinion as to the sentiment of Poughkeepsie's general population towards Mr. Moffat. Alliance@IBM doesn't even represent a majority of IBM employees, much less the population of people from which a jury would be built.
