Forget the fact that those are both >150 years ago, the war of 1812 was fought because the british kept kidnapping american sailors to fight napoleon. Better examples might be the invasion of grenada, panama, iran, cuba, and iraq (2003). In any case, even if you take the most cynical interpretation of those conflicts at face value, none of that excuses the invasion of ukraine.
