An example I heard on NPR recently involved a damn which is being built, and the propeganda being sent to the people. People are being kicked out of their homes.

Well, I am a Chinese and perhaps I can tell you about this. This damn is built to prevent flood in the future. As you know, China has suffered floods almost every year. The government has already planned to build this damn in the past twenty years, and the reason it has just started construction is because many experts opposed this suggestion. And there was a famous debate between the two sides in 1997. The government formed a group of experts and they investigated the whole area, and submit a report that suggest to build. But 30 experts did not sign because they disagree with it. And those experts are living happily in China, even though they strong opposed the construction of damn. And those people have to move, but to better places. A villiage of people has been moved to Shanghai, and some to Beijing, Guangdong(all best places), and most of them are moved to Sichuan, the nearest province because they refuse to move any further. Propeganda is sent, but every government in this world likes propeganda, right? And most people are not stupid. I am not sure how you get those information about that the people are kicked off. Well, each and every one of them get money, at about 50 thousand RMB. It is a large number of money in China.
