If you think 8gb isn't enough then you don't understand that the CPU architecture is different on a Mac. RAM requirements are not the same on Mac as they are on Intel architectures.
This! And, to that, I would add a question: "isn't enough" for what exactly? - Playing a AAA game? Sure, it isn't enough. - Browsing the web, doing some office work while having an expresso at a coffee shop? For that I would almost risk saying that it's an excess. But I won't give people that pleasure.
