Switcher preference is for applications, not OS (Score 1)

I acknowledge that the "switcher" saved $500 on hardware by buying a Windows laptop instead of an iBook. But to me, the main point of the switcher's testimonial is she felt that Microsoft Office was superior to Appleworks, and Internet Explorer to Netscape. Well, OK, so why hasn't she been using these Microsoft applications on the **Macintosh**? Why buy new hardware AND new software, when new software would have been sufficient? This should have been a testimonial for Microsoft application software, not a "platform" switch.
