The original article has a small blurb that compares sales over the first three years:
Microsoft’s follow-up console, the Xbox One, has not sold nearly as well as the 360. In 2008, less than three years after it was launched, the company said the 360 had sold over 19 million units worldwide. The Xbox One was released in 2013, and has sold about 10 million units in roughly the same amount of time as its predecessor.
Sales for the first 3 years are bad for Xbox One. Sales of PS4 compared to PS3 for the first 3 years are very promising.
They are implying that everyone is having a bad time because Microsoft is having a bad time.

This one is going to happen and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Steps are already in place to minimize the damage.
The discussion is about global warming/climate change because it shows that this is the first of many recordbreakers and puts the focus on how to prevent or lessen future hurricanes.
Plus it's a little short sighted to only focus on this one, and forget about the topic afterwards until the next one happens.

An anonymous reader writes "Aaron Ardiri challenged himself to port his classic PalmOS version of Lemmings to the iPhone, Palm Pre, Mac, and Windows. The porting was done using his own dev environment, which creates native C versions of the game. He liveblogged the whole thing, and finished after only 36 hours with an iPhone version and a Palm Pre version awaiting submission, and free versions for Windows and Mac available on his site."

Supermassive Black Hole Is Thrown Out of Galaxy 167
DarkKnightRadick writes "An undergrad student at the University of Utrecht, Marianne Heida, has found evidence of a supermassive black hole being tossed out of its galaxy. According to the article, the black hole — which has a mass equivalent to one billion suns — is possibly the culmination of two galaxies merging (or colliding, depending on how you like to look at it) and their black holes merging, creating one supermassive beast. The black hole was found using the Chandra Source Catalog (from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory). The direction of the expulsion is also possibly indicative of the direction of rotation of the two black holes as they circled each other before merging."
