It saves money if the data is worth something (Score 1)

If the data is worth anything, you can always argument that software that has not been tested thoroughly can mess up the data and then the worth/value of the whole system collapses. Yes, there are backups, but will the backup schmea work if the software gradually corrupts the data? And will the customers suffer damage during the downtime that you try to debug/correct the bug (that will eventually occur) ?
