Comment 0 Support for Linux (Score 1) 432

We have exactly 0 support for Linux in our wireless system. I work for our IT dept. and have brought this up several times. I don't even get a real response to it. I have at least 30 students a year ask me how they can get on, and the only answer I can give them is "you can't", which royally sucks, because I am a people pleaser. If I can help someone, I'll bend over backwards to do it. We have a TON of Mac users on our network, and they are able to use it, but only with our help with advanced configuration. Windows 7 users have it the best by far...it just prompts for the credentials and off they go.

Well...I know they should be able to easily figure out who it is. I have fuse myself, and they use a static lease on their IP addresses which should make it all that much easier for them. lol. According to http://geotool.flagfox.net/ that IP seems to be in New Richmond, OH. Give the LEOs there a call and see what they can do.

Comment Seagate is terrible these days... (Score 1) 452

I bought a Seagate Barracuda 320 GB drive to use a my main System drive about a year ago. It promptly failed about an hour after installing XP, and before I could put any important data on it. I took it back and exchanged for a Western Digital Caviar 320 GB drive. I still use that drive today. If you need a HDD, go with WD.

Comment Don't go too far! (Score 1) 1117

I would definitely not lock them down too much. I like the idea of what others have said about contacting corporations about their policies. I have a personal experience with computers being too locked down, even though they were Windows XP machines, not Macs. I was doing research on a school computer for an upcoming science project, and suddenly found my research come to a halt, as I found NASA blocked by rule "to block pornography" by WebMarshal. Create local rules, rather than subscribing to some serve service to do the job for you.
