We already see what building these very large data centres does to communities in the vicinity, the power costs go up and so does the water consumption, those costs are socialised with the surrounding community, whilst the profits from the data centres are privatised. People can kick and scream all they want about the government, ultimately this is a federal request and the various state governments have to either adopt or reject it as it's state and local governments that decide. Still, this sets a clear signal for would be investors that they don't get to just plonk a giant energy consumer on the grid and watch the wholesale national energy market rise without offsetting that consumption with new energy to maintain reasonable pricing. This is actually good government and good for investors wanting to build data centres that lays the groundwork for a sustainable future that works for the communities and surrounding businesses that host these data centres as neighbours.

I've been trying out Claude for a while. They've had it consolidating and storing key memories for a while now, but still find its a bit poor at deciding what is important. It even forgets stuff in the current chat and needs to be told about it again instead of being able to go back and review what was just a few pages up. This stuff I find chatgpt is much better at.

Claude tells me about 2.9N, a bit less than a can of coke. But with 60% efficiency, up to 90% less fuel than chemical rockets... It can pile that thrust on over months and really get moving.
