Comment Domino's in Italy was not so bad... (Score 5, Interesting) 227

I live in Rome and I ordered pizza from Domino's a couple of times. The pizza was quite better than the "American version" (I tried it as well in the US) they had some italian classic pizzas and some delicious variants with Jalapeno pepperoni and some "american style ingredients". Stuffed crust was another option very uncommon in Italy. I liked it as an "exotic" alternative to my "classic pizza place". So It's a bit sad they closed down, but I think they had higher costs: franchise license, in house delivery (others just use Just Eat so no fixed costs) and some cool hi-tech pizza boxes (definitely more expensive). So: RIP Domino's Italy... I'll miss you (not too much)

He's European and if he's a security expert probably he already travelled to United States for a convention or something like that. Well every time we (europeans) travel to US they take a picture of us and all out fingerprints at the border... so where's the point in the Apple Touch ID?

Comment You don't know, but we in Italy are far ahead (Score 2, Interesting) 393

Yes, Romans are ahead of Egyptians...

In Italy we already have a law that force you to pay if you want to take a picture of any national monument (like the Colosseum) and use it for commercial use. And it's not limited in any way by the age of the creation.

The fact that the law is not strictly enforced doesn't mean it not exists. As most of italian laws, it will be there, silent, until someone decides to apply you a fine or, worst, to stop your video production, or shut down your web site (with methods similar to Chinese).

Obviously it's more easy to apply the law in the country of origin, so Italians producers of books, websites, etc, usually pay the royalties to the Italian Ministry of Arts or simply removes the pictures (like the Italian edition of Wikipedia).

Egyptians... amateurs.
