Submission + - Scientific proofs of aliens orbiting Earth in the early 50's (youtube.com)

exodude writes: Anyone following UAP will be happy to know that we are having scientific evidence of aliens orbiting around Earth in the early 50's before any humans sent anything in space. Here are details :

A team of astronomers has presented evidence suggesting the presence of non-human technology in Earth's orbit, based on analysis of photographic sky survey plates from the early 1950s—a period before human satellite launches.

The research, led by Dr. Beatris Villarroel of the Vasco project, examined digitized images from the first Palomar Sky Survey (pre-1957) to identify "transients"—brief flashes of light that appear and then vanish. Given the pre-Sputnik era of the observations, any artificial objects detected would, by definition, be of non-human origin.

While such flashes could be dismissed as defects on the photographic plates, the researchers applied a key test: they checked if the transients appeared in the area of the sky obscured by Earth's shadow.

They discovered a statistically significant deficit of transients inside the shadow. The significance level of this finding is a value that makes a chance occurrence extremely improbable. This result indicates the flashes are not random plate defects but are caused by sunlight reflecting off physical objects in orbit, which would not be illuminated while in the planet's shadow.

The characteristics of the flashes—brief and point-like—are consistent with specular reflection, which occurs on flat, highly reflective surfaces. This implies the objects may be artificial and technological, as natural bodies like asteroids would typically produce streaks, not momentary glints, during the long exposure times.

The research also reports statistically significant correlations between the appearance of these transients and major events on Earth:

- Nuclear Tests: An increase in transient sightings was observed in the days immediately following nuclear bomb tests, with a statistical significance of approximately 3.
- 1952 Washington D.C. Incident: Some of the clearest candidates, including a sequence of nine lights in a linear arrangement, were recorded on the dates of the 1952 Washington D.C. UFO incident.

Dr. Villarroel and her team conclude that the data is consistent with the presence of a large number of artificial objects—estimated between 70,000 and 200,000—in or near geostationary orbit during the 1950s.

The paper suggests one possible explanation is that these objects were probes for surveillance. The research is currently detailed in a pre-print paper undergoing peer review. The authors anticipate challenges from the scientific community but maintain that the data shows a real phenomenon requiring further investigation.

Submission + - Europeans Spend 575 Million Hours Clicking Cookie Banners Every Year (legiscope.com) 1

exodude writes: A recent study reveals that Europeans spend over 575 million hours each year clicking through cookie consent banners, resulting in an economic loss of €14.35 billion. Consent banners are mandated by the outdated ePrivacy Directive from 2002, that was originally intended to protect user privacy. However, in a lot of cases today, banners are used by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to understand website usage and providing minimal actual privacy benefits.

The cumulated time loss is equivalent to 287,500 full-time employees dedicating their workdays accepting cookie banners every year...

Experts are urging an urgent revision of the ePrivacy Directive to exempt SMBs, thereby alleviating the €14.35 billion burden and reclaiming valuable time for both businesses and users.

Submission + - New EU legal privacy framework: we're not kidding

An anonymous reader writes: Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission announced today a new regulation for data privacy in Europe in replacement of a 1995 Directive. Recently, privacy laws have been under a lot of criticism for their practical inability to ensure a high level of protection to EU citizens. The new data privacy framework will bring a lot of changes: 24 hours security breach notifications, mandatory security assessments, end of notifications to local data privacy agencies, mandatory data protection officers and huge administrative fines: up to 2% of the annual worldwide turnover (that would have meant 1.2 Billion $ for Microsoft in 2008 !). Indeed that'(TM)s "the necessary 'teeth' so the rules can be enforced".
