A friend of mine was recently telling me about the significant problems in their marriage. I told this person that they didn't need to stay in an abusive situation, and that they should consider throwing in the towel. Their response to me was, "You don't understand, failure is not an option." I pointed out that I used to feel that way too....until my ex decided she didn't want to be married to me.
