Eugene, OR is not a huge town. Sure, 150,000 doesn't make it a small town, either, but we have a dopey small-town mentality. This is way obvious if you watch our local news. It's almost like a sitcom. On TNN. You'd think they'd at least hire anchors who could read....just goes to show, nothing screams "I went to college because my parents were paying for everything but made me learn stuff" like a Communications degree. Just ask Lubchenko.

I live in Provo, Utah. The metro area is approx 250, 000+ but the local paper publishes crap. They shun non-local news. (usually not much more than 1 page for national & international) They put rediculous stories on the front page. (woman rescues a squirrel from a tree they were cutting down) They even published misinformation about a student strike at my school on the front page. A few days later they put another article on the front page. Gimme a break. There is more to the world than your neighbor's
