Here is a good work around.

Get this http://web.palmone.com/products/Product.jhtml?id=4 10001&cat=310004 very nice cable about $24 and it will charge your phone from USB port power. Then get this http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/index.php it's a proxy software for the treo. ~$50 later you have a solution that lets you connect your laptop via the treo to the internet. Great for the roadwarriors, I use it all the time and it's fast. I used the Sprint card too and I say this is faster then the card.
