VB Programmers get a bad rap because of the fancy IDE, but VB apps can be every bit as complex and powerful as any Java or C app. During my first few years as a programmer I moved from writing C / pro*C (oracle) apps on SCO Unix to writing multi-tier web apps (ActiveX,VBScript,COM,DCOM,ADO) and the VB app was much more complex.

I'm guessing that most people who knock VB as a development tool have never actually used it.
