The authors, while missing the point, do make a very good point.
When displaying the work (what portion of the work is still in question) they also intend to sell ads based on the context of the search for the copyrighted work. So in essence, they are making a profit off of a showing of material they do not own the copyright too. What are the odds of Google then directing a portion of that profit to the copyright owners?
Perhaps it would be better if Google bought a copy of every book it intends to scan. Therefore, acting in more of a library capacity?
